Exodus 24

Today I am still in Exodus. In the last sentence of chapter 24 v 18 it says:”Then Moses disappeared into the cloud as he climbed higher up the mountain. He remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.” I don’t know what except by the prompting of the spirit, the number of the days and nights caused me to ask the question: Is this number significant in the Bible? Yes it is! It is used over 150 times in the Bible. It commonly refers to a time of trial, testing, probation, transformation  and preparation. It is primarily the number 40 in association with years and days, or hours.

So, how can we practice this in today’s world? Isolation is not practical, but we can practice prayer, Bible reading and study, and fasting.(control of our appetites). There is much we can do over that period of time. The question is will we? There is much we need to transform in our lives. I will leave you to figure out your own. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will prompt us with our particular need
